Monkey Fountain

Here's another one from the Sun City water park, 'Valley of the Waves' from this past weekend. The entire place was designed with a very African theme - all the statues, fountains and other decor featured local animals and motifs. I particularly liked this fountain - water runs from the monkeys' outstretched hands. Pretty original, no?

  1. Enjoyed your blog tremendously and look forward to more posts from the big city. My home town, although moved away in 1981 and have been in Cape Town ever since - its nice to see what is happening there.

  2. These are nice, Susie. They do have a distinct African feeling.

  3. If the stone cutting for this fountain was done in Italy, as many of them are, I can imagine some workers in a workshop saying, "You want a fountain with what? We do cherubs, angels, classical Greek mythological figures, but monkeys?"

  4. I like your photos of the fountain. Thanks for including the one in color because I was wondering about that when I saw the black and white one.
